Fiberglass is the predominant reinforcement material used with polymer material used with polymer matrix composites. Fiberglass is known for its good strength, process ability, and low cost. Fiberglass, along with carbon fiber and polyethylene, have become the primary composites used in snow board production. Boards produced with these fiberglass composites can survive extreme compression, tensile impact, and shear loads, often in subfreezing temperatures.
